ITB Berlin Convention 2013
Following this year's ITB Convention in Berlin, a number of presentations have been provided on the ITB website. 2nd International Forum, Russia
The Second International Forum St Petersburg, Russia 23rd - 26th November 2011
Organised by St Petersburg State University for Service and Economics, in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University, the Forum will feature key speakers from the Russian hospitality, tourism and events industry. The aim is to identify the key problems and challenges faced by these industries and to find practical solutions for these. There will also be ample opportunity to network with many other organizations from around the world.
The Conference takes place in Tavrichesky Palace, the headquarters of Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States The agenda will be linked to the preparation for the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi 2014.

eventIMPACTS Toolkit
Providing guidelines for the evaluation of social, economic, environmental and media related impacts associated with staging major sporting and cultural events, the eventIMPACTS toolkit covering these aspects, aims to help create an industry standard in evaluating the impact of events. The toolkit has been created by a number of organisations including VisitBritain and UK Sport and is targeted primarily towards event owners, funders, sponsors and event industry employees across the UK.Reports following research carried out using the toolkit,at a variety of venues such as the Tour of Britain Finale and IRB Rugby Union Junior World Championships, have been provided as detailed case studies.
British Tourism Week
British Tourism Week takes place from 15 to 21 March with the official launch in Newport, Wales. One of the flagship events of the week prior to the launch, was the first-ever illumination of Hadrian's Wall on Saturday. Thousands of visitors were drawn to the site to watch 500 beacons lighting up the whole length of the wall, manned by 1200 volunteers more...

The Climate Change Festival in Birmingham is now underway and over the course of this week will be offering a variety of events, alongside exhibitions, stalls and performers. Catch a tour of secret green roofs, send your own message to the world via the Green diary room at Central Library or attend a masterclass on climate change. There will also be a futuristic multimedia exhibition at Baskerville House later this week and don't miss the pylon near the Council House.

Research on...the Olympics
A new A5 subject booklet has been published by Intute this month, Internet resources for Olympic studies. The booklet offers a taster to some of the best online information resources for researching the Olympic Games, which have been selected, evaluated and made available through the Intute. Categories include history of the games, London 2012, Olympic people, research, event management and contemporary issues in sport.
A search in LeisureTourism (non-Athens passwords apply) will also reveal some useful results. The abstracts database is very thorough as it also searches within books for relevant chapters. The 'In Brief and In Depth' tab can be searched for full-text articles and there are a number related to the Olympics. Don't forget Athens - many of the databases should have articles to support your studies.
A related conference, Staging Mega Sporting Events - Opportunities & Challanges is also happening on 24th April 2008, free admission and open to students, academics and researchers at Coventry University Business School. Special focus will be given to the Olympics.
