An article by David Beirman entitled 'A Strategic Approach for the Global Tourism Industry to Overcome the Global Economic Crisis : a 10 point plan', is now available online. David Beirman is a leading tourism destination crisis and recovery management specialist and is author of 'Restoring Tourism Destinations in Crisis'.
'Post Crisis Marketing', an article by Dr Peter Tarlow, can also be viewed online. It discusses the importance of developing a tourism crisis recovery plan and how to communicate with the media following a crisis. Dr Tarlow is a specialist in tourism sociology, tourism safety and security. He is currently the president of T&M.

Dark Tourism
There have been a number of articles spotted on this topic recently. In 'Travelling to the dark side', the author talks about dark tourism in general; Philip Stone's 'A dark tourism spectrum: towards a typology of death and macabre related tourist sites, attractions and exhibitions' is available online or in Ebscohost (Athens) in fulltext. Another which may be of interest is based around the Ustica Disaster in 1980; Terezin in the Czech Republic comes under the spotlight in this article which lists the top 10 darkest attractions in the region.

From extreme to dark tourism, Hitler lost his head soon after the heavily criticised waxwork was unveiled at Tussauds in Berlin. There have been a number of abstracts and articles on Chinese tourists and how destinations are marketing and catering for them in Leisuretourism.com recently (non-Athens passwords apply).
